Ginger O'Riley: A New Revolution
Hailing from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ginger O’Riley was formed in March 2019, originally as a trio, in Bedford, VA. The name comes from combining the nickname for the 2 gingers in the band, Chip Lovelace and Kevin O’Connell ("Ginger") with an embellishment of bass player Mike Riley's surname (“O’Riley”).
After months of writing and rehearsals, the band recorded 2 originals at Fainting Goat Studio, followed up by their first show at Beale’s Brewery in October 2019. The event was a success and led to more bookings. Jeff Hubbard joined the group shortly thereafter.
Of course, due to the virus, Ginger O’Riley has been unable to play many live shows over the last year. So , instead, the band has concentrated on writing original material. Recently, the group recorded 4 new originals and released its first EP in January 2021, a six song effort collecting its studio material to date. The band hopes to return to the live music venue circuit soon, hopefully to a town near you.
